Welcome to the world of Treyan Porter: musician, songwriter, and teacher. Treyan writes music that often portrays a story or relays a message, but at the same time is tuneful, catchy, and easy to be drawn into. And he teaches his students to do the same. As he tells his students, “If you can’t grab them (the listener or audience) in one listening, it’s time to go back and work it again.”

Treyan has taught music for Davis School District in Davis County, Utah. He also taught at Bravo Arts Academy (in Clearfield, UT and Ogden, UT). He currently teaches privately at a studio in Centerville, UT, focusing on composition, arrangement, and improvisation with his students. Some of Treyan’s students have gone on to pursue music professionally, getting jobs as musicians, teachers, and/or releasing their own albums.

Some of Treyan's songwriting highlights include commissioned projects. He wrote seven original songs based on The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People® for the Leader in Me® program that was being introduced and implemented when he worked for Davis School District. He has written music for Spotlight Theater including an original song for their Halloween production of “Monster Mash”. Most recently, he has written music and lyrics for a full theatrical production of “As You Wish”, based on “The Princess Bride” by William Goldman, that was performed by both Spotlight Theater and Shine Performing Arts.

According to Treyan, one of his most memorable songwriting moments was having his song “One More Minute” translated into Spanish and performed by David Archuleta and Italo Coello in concert in Santiago, Chile.

When he isn’t involved in a songwriting project for someone else, he enjoys writing, recording, and performing his own music. While he is versatile in writing all styles of music, as a performer his own developed style is a fusion of pop, rock, and blues he refers to as “blue pop rocks.”
